What must I do to inherit eternal life? This was the question that was asked by the teacher in the New Testament in Luke chapter 10. This gentleman wanted to know how to be saved from this world to the next. I was thinking about this question this morning as I was reading……..how do I inherit eternal life, how do I attain salvation according to Jesus? It was not the answers that many people thought it would be. It is not by attending your local church even though this is good and needed in your life but salvation does not come by church membership or sitting in a pew. It might make you feel better but it is no how we are saved. It is not by doing christian things like going to the Christian book store and buying a plastic fish for the bumper of your car and WWJD bracelets for your wrist. It is not by saying a magic prayer of salvation. We can say what ever we want but if we do not strive to obey him and if we do the exact opposite of what he asks, how can we say we truly believe in  Jesus and what he represented. There must be something in us that is striving to be like him.

So what does it say in Luke 10. How am I saved? What must I do to attain eternal life?

Here is the answer……Love God and love others……..Jesus said “Do this and you will live”

We are most like God when we are loving. We understand God the most when we love those who do not love us in return. We can not know God if we do not love the people around us.
