The tongue also is a fire.

This is a good thought from the book of James. How it is just a spark that light great and majestic forests on fire. It can take down something that has taken years and years to grow with just a single spark.

I think of myself and how this is an area in my life that I need to get in control. I let emotions and attitude get the best of me sometimes. I maybe it gets the worst of me. I have put myself in such bad situations due to the lack of control of this fire.

See fire can be used to save lives and destroy them but according to the book of James it talks about the seriousness of our words. The power of what we say can last a life time. I still think back as a child where people spoke such an evil seed into my life and it did effect me. It could be words like you are stupid, you will never make anything good out of your life, you are worthless, you should just give up……I know many of us have been the recipients of such seeds and for many it has haunted us for years or maybe it still haunts you today. They say sticks and stones my break my bones but words will never hurt me….What a load of crap. We might be able to heal from stick and maybe one stone, but words leave a long lasting wound. The only way that we can overcome these wounds and this evil is with good and mercy and forgiveness. This is what our God did. Giving mercy and forgiveness does not only free the guilty, but it releases the heart of the innocent. Giving forgiveness sets us free. You want pain and bitterness, anger, depression to leave your life….start to forgive.

Now, how do we get our tongue under control? We must protect of hearts because out the of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. So whatever is overflowing in your heart will come out. If it is pride, lust, anger, jealousy, or love, that is what is going to flow out form your life.

Can salt water and fresh water flow from the same spring?
